Every writer gets to experience writer's block. It is simply inevitable and at times when you have to rewrite everything you just want to throw in the towel in a bittersweet surrender. Those who have been writing for years already know what to do with it. For those who are beginners to the game, the following tips can help a lot:
You have to believe in timing. It may be not the right time for you to write yet. Your ideas may have to stew for a while before you write down your thoughts into a book. You have to fight off that fear. A lot of writers are afraid to express their ideas and put them out for everyone to read and critique. Fear is the main reason why many writers don't become writers at all. One other reason is perfectionism. There are writers who want everything to be perfect before they ever start with the first word.
There are creative solutions for this writer's block phenomenon. You can go for a walk on your own and try to get rid of distractions. You can also do something that will keep your blood flowing and a great example is running. You can also play some mind games to stimulate your thinking cells. You can try to tinker the Lego set placed near you. You may also try to change your immediate environment, read a book, or perhaps listen to great music.
You can choose to brew your favorite coffee. Come up with a routine. There are writers who d this to encourage the muse to come. You may also spend some time with a person who can make you feel good. This may lead you to call a friend you like to talk most of the time. You may jot down ideas that came through while you were brainstorming. Do this in bullet points. You can read some inspiring quotes to get the ball rolling.
It also helps to do free writing every day. This means that you just write whatever comes off your mind without thinking about grammar, punctuation, etc. You can spend 15 minutes a day for this. The topic can be as random as you want it to be. You could be changing subjects from venting, to a journal entry, or fiction. This process will enable your mind to search for words which you might need when writing.
